Scattered thoughts 2

1-For those that watch Nip/Tuck, here is an interesting conversation between Julia and her daughter Annie after a Hurricane hit Miami:
On there way to the airport

Annie: Who is going to take care of this mess?(after seeing the destruction caused by the hurricane)

Julia: People rebuild…This is what we do

Yes some people are builders and rebuilders without despair
And some people are destroyers par excellence…

That is our battle in the Middle East, the battle between destroyers- death lovers, and between builders –life craving people…

2-Ugliness is ugly…
Ugliness makes you feel down…depressed

3-If you are not good in something don’t keep on doing it…Stop fighting failure…

4-If you think that making others happy will make you happy…well you are mistaken…It will make you miserable…

5-When your acts and words don’t match that means you are a liar or that you are afraid and hiding something…

6- 40 days ago, I gave birth to a beautiful boy…Since then my life has completely changed…To the best?

7-I don’t know what is happening to me…but I went yesterday to buy an Olivia Newton John’s CD

8-I can’t believe that I am liking a song by Najwa Karam… Oh my God what is happening to me?

9-What if Dinosaurs are back on our planet? I think my son Marco will be happy…

10- I still don’t understand those who love drinking black tea

Lebanon's Soul: Who's after it?

How do you break someone?

How do you dismantle a country?

You target the SOUL…

When you reach the soul…

When you hit the soul…

When you manipulate the soul…

When you control the soul…

When you crush the soul…

You defeat the BODY…

You conquer the SOIL…

Hezbollah: The fall of a legend

Beirut is still resisting…
Fights are still going on in the North… Soldiers are still dying for the sake of a free world…
Katyusha rockets hit Kiryat Shmona…but hey for a change Hezbollah was not accused…
Hezbollah…the fall of a legend…this is the title of the next episode in Lebanon…

The U.S, Israel, Saudi Arabia, 14 march movement, they are all after Hezbollah…

How to dismantle this militia? How to transform this militia into a political party?

To destroy Hezbollah is not realistic…
To disarm Hezbollah by force is crazy…

To start negotiating with the Israelis for the Shebaa Farms is a strong path…

We get back the last piece of land under Israeli Occupation…Hezbollah won’t have any excuse to keep its arms…

You think it is a very shallow, childish scenario?

Well, it is the only path that we did not try yet to get rid of the danger of an armed militia in the country…

Sometimes, naïve gestures could lead to great things…

But definitely bold gestures lead to great things…

However, is it the right time now…

The lack of trust between the Seniora government and Hezbollah is at its peak…

Maybe a secret channel between Lebanese and Israeli official is a must to succeed in such a daring endeavor…

Guarantees are another problem…

Who can guaranty that once the Lebanese government reaches and agreement with the Israeli government…and the Shebaa Farms are given back to Lebanon Hezbollah will disarm?

So, does that mean we need to involve Hezbollah in any negotiations with Israel?

Well, why not? It could always be an indirect involvement…

Again and again I say it out loud…all these moves need courage, boldness, craziness, and Vision…

The Beirut Battle

Baghdad…Gaza…Beirut…

Three battlefields that will determine the future of the whole Middle East for the coming decades…

It is not a secret to anyone that the chaos in the region is due to the fierce confrontation (or the new cold war) between the United States and Iran for the supremacy over the Middle East…

Baghdad fell in the hands of the Shia militias and Sunni extremists…

Gaza fell in the hands of Hamas…

The score is 2 to zero for the Iranian team…

Beirut is still fighting…Beirut is still resisting…Beirut is still refusing to fall in the hands of Hezbollah…in the hands of anti-American extremism…

The final battle- the mother of all battles- (you remember that expression!!??) will be in Beirut…

The establishment of the international tribunal by the U.N Security Council was a “penalty shoot” for the American team…but still the game “ain’t over” yet…

Losing Beirut to Iran will lead to an Iranian supremacy in the region…
Losing Beirut to Iran will lead to a new era of belligerence in the region…
Losing Beirut to Iran will lead to decades of insecurity and instability in the region…
Losing Beirut to Iran will be a disaster…
A disaster no one in the region can afford..
A disaster that the International Community can’t deal with…

The Beirut Battle will determine the face of the new Middle East…

Walid Eido...We'll never fall

Another blast in Beirut...Another martyr…Walid Eido…

I can’t find the words to express how I feel and what I think…

It is too much for one country to bear…

The only thing that comes to my mind is the song by FRANCES RUFFELLE - LONELY SYMPHONY

Welcome to the land Where all our dreams are planned
And fighting is a thing to do
Sometimes it makes me feel Naked like a tree in autumn
And through the clouds and rain
Love has come to stake its claim In an ugly way
And while you dance beneath an angry star
I'm chasing rainbows across the sun
And in this mad equation
I still believe that we can be In harmony, you and me
A chorus in your lonely symphony
We will rise
We'll never fall
And we will be free
We will rise
We'll never fall again
And we will be free
We will rise
We'll never fall

Lebanese are terrorized

Since the assassination of Rafik Hariri and since the end of the Syrian occupation in 2005 and Lebanon has been under attack…

Political assassinations, car bombs and Syrian sponsored Al Qaeda attacks… those are some of the means used to terrorize a whole country…

Until today, I always had the feeling of being secure in my own country despite everything, and that feeling of security was felt among all the people that I know and felt by people’s behavior of refusing to given to fear…

How do you face terror? By refusing to be scared; by refusing to give up on life; by loving life…

Lebanese are known to use the strategy of “life goes on” for decades to overcome wars and insecurity…

But for a reason, maybe we are sick and tired; Lebanese have give in…to fear…

Today, I got a phone call from my son’s school principal…She announced to me with a bitter voice: “School is over…we see no need to keep the students coming under such disastrous circumstances… but the good news is that the “end of the year ceremony” is still on for next Saturday”…

People are afraid to go out at night for a simple dinner or to have a couple of drinks…

People are canceling wedding ceremonies…

People are not going to malls to shop…

Lebanese are paralyzed…numbed by fear…

Lebanese are afraid…Fear is everywhere…

We are losing the battle against the Syrian sponsored terror…

Bashar and Credibility

Once I asked a friend: “Do you believe everything I say?”

And I got this very profound answer: “Yes I do believe everything you say”…

That is what is called credibility…That is when someone is credible…

Now, how do we apply this to Syria?

Ask any Lebanese: “Do you believe what comes out of the mouth of the Syrian politicians…especially from the mouth of the three stooges, Bashar Assad, Walid Mouallem and Faruk Sharaa?”

And you will get a strong and confident: “Absolutely not”

Yes, the Syrian regime has a credibility problem…

Whatever Bashar says you have to translate to the opposite…

Bashar and his gang are liars…

So Mr D’Alema, don’t be very positive about your visit to Syria…

Before you many others went to visit Bashar thinking that they might change something but all they heard was lies… about Lebanon, Iraq and the Peace Process…

And Mr Olmert, you and others in Israel are being fooled by Bashar's proposal for peace...

But go on and start your talks...there is an arabic proverb "Batikh ye kaser ba3do"...

The Six Day War: We learnt nothing

40 years ago the Arabs lost East Jerusalem...

40 years ago the Arabs refused to admit that Israel is there to stay…

40 years later still some stupid, opportunist, parasite leaders that have nothing to do with the Arabs believe that Israel will one day disappear…

40 years later still the problem of the Palestinian refugees is not solved in Lebanon…

40 years ago…it was June 1967…

Lebanon was not part of that war against Israel…but because of Abdel Naser ‘s megalomaniac schemes Lebanon paid the highest price…

Maybe East Jerusalem was lost…but the Lebanese lost a whole country…A nation…

I am not going to repeat all the disastrous decisions taken since 1969 (the Cairo agreement) till 2005 (the withdrawal of the Syrian Army from Lebanon)…

What I have to say is that the time has come to solve the issue of the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon…

I am very glad that the issue of Fatah El Islam and Jund E-Sham has taken this big of a dimension…The escalation is in our favor…

Yes, I am very sorry for our loss of the best fighters of the Lebanese Army but…

It was time to deal with the refugee camps…We couldn’t avoid the problem anymore…We couldn’t ignore the chaos inside the camps…

Avoiding a problem doesn’t mean the problem will be solved…( and I know what I am talking about)

After Fatah El Islam…The government should find a drastic solution to the refugees and it is about time to close the file…

40 years ago…it was June 1967…
